Chaka Khan
Chaka Khan is a famous American music producer and singer. She is also referred to by her infamous nickname, The Queen of Funk. Through her career that spans more than fifty years Chaka Khan has been awarded a total 10 Grammys. Billboard Magazine has ranked her as the 65th best dance artist in history. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was introduced to jazz music by her grandmother when she was a child. She started her career singing in various groups. Then, she joined a group named Rufus. At the age of twenty the singer released her first album and the other members of Rufus. The group won their first Grammy award a year later. A few years later she was able to make her debut as an artist on her own, and she released her debut self-titled album. She then released several other albums throughout the years, like 'Echoes from an Era The Woman I Am', and "Funk This". As well as her musical activities, her work in the charitable sector has brought her lots of recognition. Chaka Khan Foundation was established to support children living in poverty families and those with autism. Khan is also an actress from time to time. She played the role of the character Sister Carrie on stage in musical 'Mama I'm Ready to Sing.'
