Lisa Edelstein (born Lisa Edelstein) is an American actor who is best known for playing House in Fox's the medical thriller House. Her family was from Wayne, in a conservative Jewish tradition. When she was 18 she moved in New York City to study at Tisch School of the Arts. She was very active in the club scene in New York City, and made enough noise to get heard in the press. While doing so she became more aware of AIDS its devastating consequences. She used both her experience in the music industry and public recognition to write and perform in a brand new musical called Positive Me. Awake the Wild Side, a show that she hosted on MTV quickly became her new assignment. After it was taken off air, she was able to appear in films and television production at first in small roles and gradually established herself as an actor.
